Zomato, founded by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah in 2008, turned 16 this year. To celebrate, CEO Deepinder Goyal, along with his wife Grecia Munoz and Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder and CEO of Blinkit — a Zomato-owned fast-food business — cut a cake with students from Gurgaon’s Vidya School and a Zomato delivery partner. He shared pictures from the celebration on Instagram and said he “received love” and “lots of high fives.”

“I spent the first part of Zomato’s 16th birthday visiting and celebrating with the kids at a school supported by Zomato Feeding India. I received so much love and so many high fives,” the caption of the Instagram post read.

The first photo shows Goyal cutting a cake with delivery partner Zomato and school children in the presence of his wife, Grecia Munoz, and Blinkit CEO, Albinder Dhindsa.

Another photo shows Goyal holding a bouquet made of paper that one of the students probably made.

The article also features the birthday cards that the kids made for Zomato.

One of the photos also shows Goyal giving a high five to a student while his wife looked on from afar.

Grecia Munoz also shared a post on Instagram and expressed her gratitude towards ‘Feeding India – A Zomato Giveback’. She wrote, “Happy 16th Birthday Zomato. Absolutely loved all the kids and their energy. Thank you Feeding India for hosting me at Vidya School, Gurugram.”

“I had a lot of fun talking about cricket with all the kids (with my limited knowledge about cricket),” she added.

Deepinder Goyal was born in 1983 in Muktsar, Punjab. Both his parents are teachers. In an interview, Goyal once said that he was an average student and his father had to ask his teacher to let him finish his fifth class. However, when he was in eighth class, a teacher helped him turn his life around.

“When the exam results were announced, I was among the top three in my class,” he told YourStory, adding that the incident was the turning point in his life.

Earlier this year, he married Mexican model Grecia Munoz. He also appeared as a judge on the third season of the popular reality TV show Shark Tank India.
