Illinois Lottery Celebrates 50th Anniversary

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Illinois Lottery is coming to Forest City.

The celebration took place on July 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stop N Shop located at 2501 N. Huffman Boulevard and featured games and prizes.

“The Illinois Lottery began its journey in July 1974 and was the first state to broadcast a live drawing on television,” said Harold Mays, Illinois Lottery Director. “When we look back over the years, there is so much nostalgia, excitement and history to be proud of. Our rich history has made the Illinois Lottery what it is today, and we continue to make a difference in communities across Illinois.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Illinois Lottery is announcing new promotions, sweepstakes and events, including:

  • Celebration 2nd Chance: Enter the drawing to be one of fifty winners of $500 weekly prizes. Final prizes include five $50,000 prize winners and one $500,000 prize winner.
  • Get in the Groove Contest: Enter the drawing for a chance to win instant tickets and a gift card worth up to $500.
