NBA star Kevin Durant gave us a closer look at his personal life and opened up about his relationships ahead of the U.S. men’s team’s pre-Olympic training camp.

In a recent episode of Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, the Phoenix Suns forward opened up about seeing “bad people” at games and his experiences with romantic disappointments.

Often quiet off the court, Durant commented when co-host Mike Majlak asked him why he was single.

“Because I don’t want a girlfriend,” Durant said in an interview. “I have my moments and times.”

Internet star iShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., sat next to Durant during the episode and chimed in on the conversation.

“I think at one point, someone broke your heart and it really broke you,” Speed told Durant.

“I wouldn’t say my heart was broken. I would say I started to understand women when I was older,” the two-time NBA champion replied. “I realized early on that she wasn’t mine. Even though she could be my girlfriend, she could be influenced by other people

“I’m not tripping over this relationship. If we’re having fun for a while, that’s cool, and if you’re brave enough and I’m brave enough, then that’s it.”

After Watkins continued his speculation about Durant’s past, the former NBA Finals MVP emphasized his stance on relationships.

“Every time I explain my position to people, they say shit like this: ‘Man, man, you just got hurt,’” Durant said. “Man, I like hanging out with — just maybe not as much as you like hanging out with people. A few days is cool for me.”

Additionally, Durant denied that he posted a list of reasons why he was single on Instagram in March.

“You think I actually wrote that?” Durant said when asked about the rumor. “It was a fake account. I’m too playa to write that shit. No way.”

Durant’s last public relationship was his engagement to former Minnesota Lynx star Monica Wright in 2023. The couple reportedly met at the school’s All-Star game in 2006. However, they ended their relationship shortly after.

“Yes, in my last relationship (with NBA star Kevin Durant), I had to make the decision to sacrifice myself as a woman,” Wright told Essence in 2014.

“I had to make the decision to leave the relationship, which many people thought was crazy. There was a lot of criticism because of that. But I think God supported me in that.”

The following January, Durant appeared in an article for GQ magazine in which he admitted that “his heart still isn’t fully recovered from hurting someone he loved.”

“I had a fiancée, but… I really didn’t know how to love her, you know what I’m saying? We just went our separate ways,” Durant said in an interview.

Wright became an NBA executive and married former professional basketball player Michael Rogers. In 2023, she became general manager of the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury.
