NCIS fans, you need to know what CBS announced about the upcoming episode

This NCIS Universe is approaching a watershed moment in television, and CBS is honoring its legacy in a way viewers need to know.

As a decades-long franchise (which currently includes NCIS, NCIS: Hawaii AND NCIS: Sydney) is gearing up to air its 1,000th episode on Monday, April 15, and the network is taking fans on a journey back in time. As announced in an official CBS press release on March 26, the network is airing NCISVerse: The First 1000time Entertainment tonight special. The primetime event will premiere tonight in place of a new episode of NCIS, Monday, April 8, 9:00 PM ESTThe 1,000th episode will air one week later on Monday, April 15 at 9:00 PM ET.

While fans may be disappointed to learn there is no new episode of NCIS in the traditional sense, the all-new special is a can’t-miss event. In addition to giving viewers a first look at the making of the series’ upcoming 1,000th episode, it will also feature exclusive interviews with the stars NCIS shows the past and present (including NCIS: Los Angeleswhich was broadcast from 2009 to 2023 and NCIS: New Orleansaired from 2014 to 2021), detailing behind-the-scenes moments and some of the cast and guest stars’ favorite memories from working on the shows. Plus, ET Kevin Frazier will be the host from the studio, where NCIS is being filmed.

Although we don’t know which cast members will appear in this one NCISVerse: First 1000 special, we know whoever shows up will bring a ton of nostalgia with them. And given the franchise’s longevity on primetime television, CBS notes that the special also addresses how the global phenomenon “changed the face of the real NCIS.”

When it comes to what you can expect from actual 1000th episode NCIS Franchise, CBS revealed key plot details on March 28. Aptly titled “A Thousand Yards,” Vanessa Lachey (With NCIS: Hawaii) and Daniela Ruah (With NCIS: Los Angeles) guest stars as NCIS is attacked by an enemy with a mysterious past. Elsewhere, NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) tells his son why he’s still part of the team, despite all the dangers that come with the position.
