ATTRACT “150 Million Won Misappropriation” vs. Ahn Sung Il “Not Involved in FIFTY FIFTY Manipulation”

On July 11, the first hearing of ATTRAKT’s 1 billion won lawsuit against The Givers, CEO Ahn Sung Il, and director Baek Jin Sil was held at the 33rd Civil Division of the Seoul District Court.

Ahn Sung Il’s lawyer stated:This case has already been reported in the media in favor of the plaintiff. The defendants have not responded to this point and have come this far believing that the facts will be revealed during the course of the trial.”

They continued: “The plaintiff claims that the service agreement was unilaterally terminated, but that it was agreed by mutual consent. The defendants had little involvement in the disputes between the plaintiff and the members. The specific facts will be disclosed, but investigations are ongoing and the outcome will likely affect the proceedings. We will respond to each point as directed by the court.

They particularly emphasized: “As for the alleged damages, apart from the refusal of advertising by director Baek Jin Sil, there is no concrete evidence of damages. We would like the plaintiff to clearly state what damages were caused.”

According to the complaint filed by ATTRAKT, Ahn Sung Il and Baek Jin Sil breached their contractual obligations, interfered with the plaintiff’s business, defrauded the plaintiff, and took actions detrimental to the plaintiff’s interests, causing significant financial damage.

ATTRAKT explained: “Ahn Sung Il, as CEO of The Givers, signed a project management contract with ATTRAKT (from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2026) and served as the main producer of the girl group’s new project that ATTRAKT intended to develop and debut. Baek Jin Sil, as the internal director of The Givers, also handled project management and various related tasks under the same contract.

They added: “Due to the breach of duty and illegal actions of Ahn Sung Il and Baek Jin Sil, including misappropriation and loss of major business opportunities such as rejection of advertising and sponsorships, direct disputes have arisen between our company and the artists, which has hindered normal entertainment activities. The current claim for compensation is a partial amount, and we plan to expand the claim during the legal process.”

Earlier in July 2023, ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon filed a complaint against Ahn Sung Il for embezzlement, forgery, and use of forged documents with the Gangnam Police Station. Ahn Sung Il was also referred to the prosecutor’s office on charges of obstructing business and destroying electronic records, which Jeon reported in June 2023. Additional charges of embezzlement were recently recognized and referred to the prosecutor’s office.
