Popular e.tv drama series Scandal! is gearing up for a revolutionary change that aims to entice viewers as the local late-night TV show maintains its popularity.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela broke the news to fans of the beloved creation, which was met with rapturous response.

Scandal! broadcast daily

On his account @PhilMphela X posted:

“Skandal! will be broadcast daily. The e.tv soap opera is expanding its offer of episodes. The show will (now) be broadcast seven days a week. Brand new episodes will now be broadcast from Monday to Sunday.”

Since its launch on 10 January 2005 Scandal! is a staple of South African television.

It is a half-hour soap opera broadcast on e.tv from Monday to Friday, with a set of episodes from that week being broadcast every Saturday.

Soap lovers delighted with the announcement

Fans of the series welcomed the news that the offer was being extended to weekends.

Others were less enthusiastic, with the rest still wondering what this means for the actors and whether financial changes, such as a salary increase, are being considered.
